Weekend Wraps

How was everyone's weekend? Mine was great, busy but good. But that means I am one day closer to the day we leave for vaca! I spent the weekend helping with a beautiful wedding, had a meeting with a bride to discuss her wedding in September, and attended my friend Rae's bridal shower (wedding overload but I love it). After the bridal shower we got our nails done, I of course had to go with something bright and loud in honor of vacation- something that screams FUN:)

Here are a few pics of Rae's bridal shower brunch, thrown by two friends Katie and Stacy.
They did a great job!

I need motivation to get through these last two days of work...my mind is already laying on the beach with a cocktail in hand - no phone, no computer, no technology, can't wait.

RaeAnn and Chris will be getting married this Friday- 8/31/12 in the Dominican Republic. I and Patty boy along with 50 other of their closest friends/family are making the journey with them to celebrate their big day. (As I think to myself why didn't I do a destination wedding?!?!) Our one year anniversary so happens to also be less than a month away so we decided to get our bang for our buck and stay a few days extra as a cheers to making it one year:) I kid I kid- here's to MANY more years to come.

Rae and Chris left this morning..which makes me even more antsy to know that they have already arrived and the party has begun. Sigh..I. can. do. it. I sure hope I get some sort of a tan, this white girl hasn't seen the sun all summer. In the meantime I will spend the next two nights packing (which I have continued to put off), because I HATE PACKING! I just like to have options, and being confined to one suitcase does not give me a lot of that..ugh, dreading it. So I will completely, way-overpack, which I always do, but hey better than to not have enough right?!

Adios- I will be back after the trip! Have a safe and happy Labor Day!

C&D Tie the Knot:: Part 2

Hope you caught yesterday's post with a few beautiful pics from my sis's wedding.
I had to create two posts because there was so much I wanted to share!

Cort's wedding theme was "rustic chic" which included lots of DIY, which meant we spent months and months crafting, crafting, and crafting. I loved helping throughout the process, I mentioned in an earlier post that I enjoyed helping her plan more than my own, I wasn't near as stressed. Her colors were yellow and gray, perfect for a June wedding!

She had 3 different table designs- this one being assorted white milk vases with yellow/white flowers on top of a wood charger, then on top of a burlap square with scattered rocks and moss.

2nd table design- 3 wood pillar stumps with candles, followed with the charger and burlap.

Head table had a long burlap runner, individual wood chargers and burlap chair covers at each setting.Arranged with a "Mr. & Mrs." sign that hung from the front, assorted mason jars, flowers, lemons, and votives.

We made the burlap drapes, at the top center is a large frame filled with assorted yellow/gray fans (this was originally supposed to go above a fireplace at the original venue) but we made do with this.

Popcorn bar - Several flavors of popcorn with personalized bags to fill them with. We rented two whiskey barrels and placed an old door on top for the table part. Made the sign with scrapbook paper.

Wedding Favors at each place setting- "sending you with S'more love"

Cake table with the groom's fire truck cake.

Placed on cake table.

We bought yellow/gray yarn and wrapped these letters. Firefighter cookies behind that are sitting on a wood stump made by David.

Cake cutting.

Cake was on center of the dance floor on top of a whiskey barrel as well.

Guestbook table. We used an old vintage suitcase and made a "cards" sign for all cards for the bride/groom. Guest book was also hand made with burlap and lace.

Guest book table.

Bags for popcorn.

An old fence that we painted "love" on, this was placed up on the stage with uplights to make it stand out, placed directly behind the head table.

The wedding turned out so beautiful, I love to reminsce about it. I'll finish this post with the same sentence I used in my speech- "Now I'm ready to be an Aunt!":)

C&D Tie the Knot:: Part 1

My sister got married 6.30.12, remember I gave you a sneak peek HERE. First I'm going to start with the story...the story leading up to the wedding....which was quite interesting to say the least. Let me give you a recap.

The Friday before the wedding, I, my sister, Mom, and Ashley met at the reception venue for a final walk through. The event coordinator on-site walks into the room, and says she needs
to tell us something.
My heart instantly dropped. She began to explain, "Cortney, you cannot have your wedding here next weekend, the fire marshals came in yesterday and are shutting the building down."
Long pause.........
Cortney begins to say, "WHAT DO  YOU MEAN I CAN'T HAVE MY WEDDING HERE NEXT WEEKEND???"
Then lots of tears begin to start, lots and lots of tears.
Ashley and I try to hold it together, and we politely ask the coordinator to give us a few minutes. I was panicking inside, but trying to hold it together for my sister. Where in the world were we going to find a place to hold 300 PEOPLE in less than a week????

So...after some more yelling, crying, etc. we began to search, and search, and search. You name it, we called it. Most people laughed at us on the phone, they thought we were kidding. Finally, after 4 hours of searching, we found an open venue. After going back and forth with the owner about money, as well as trying to get the new venue secured, we did it. I was determined to not let my sister down, there was no way her wedding was going to be ruined. Seriously, could there be a worse wedding nightmare?? Not that I can think of.

Ultimately, what mattered most was that Cortney and David got married, and began their lives together on this special day.

Part 1 includes pictures that I love, they are so stinking cute, and I couldn't be happier to have David a part of our family now:)

Cortney's "something blue" I got her as part of a bridal shower gift.

Now the tears begin..in my case the ugly tears.

Love my sister SO much!

Oh and a much needed hair appt. think I may chop the tresses..needing a change. We'll see what I come out with.

Today is also Patty boy and I's 11-month anniversary, so crazy to think that at this time last year I was a complete nut job, about to lose my mind. So much less stress in life these days. I like it much better this way. Get ready for some fun posts to reminisce about our wedding in the next month. I never got to blog about it (I hadn't become a crazy blog addict yet), so I'll be blogging about my fav moments of the day.

We're Sexy and We GLOW It

Yesterday was spent celebrating my great friend Rae's bachelorette party, a bachelorette party not like any other. Rae is Miss Fitness Queen so what better way to help her celebrate than to incorporate that into the night?!

We started the night off with a little "pre party" with games, snacks, etc.

The group of girls then headed to Wichita's first Glow Run 5K! This was such a fun race! We were all decked out in our glow gear from head to toe.

After the race we headed to Old Town to dance the night away and ensure Rae had a night she'd never forget. IT WAS A BLAST!

Next up- Chris & Rae's wedding in the Dominican Republic....less than 3 weeks,
this trip will go down in history, can. not. wait!
