Weekend Wraps

Life lately is busy, what's new. Frankly, I just don't have the time to update my blog like I truly wish I did... I wish I could spend my day blogging, reading other blogs, and more blogging... but instead I find myself with absolutely no time to even update my blog and a struggle to keep up with some of my favs. But I am blessed, and life is good, so I will continue to squeeze in one of my favorite hobbies when I can.

This weekend was a good one, I did have to work on Saturday, but still felt like I got a lot accomplished and got some good quality time in with Patty boy. We had planned on a date night Friday night, reservations were made and everything, but then we both got off work and it was absolutely GORGEOUS outside, so we decided to cancel our plans, and grill and sit outside instead, perfectly alright with me:) We made some yummy pork chops and delicious grilled sweet potatoes. Saturday was spent doing the normal Saturday stuff- working out, cleaning, laundry, etc. but work was thrown in this mix as well so the day went by extra fast.

Today was St. Patrick's Day, (wow I think this is the first st. patty's day I haven't gone out and "partied", sheesh really am getting old) as well as our 1 1/2 year anniversary. Pat had a lot of family in town, and his cousin's band was playing at Mike's Wine Dive so we hung out there most of the evening while eating a great dinner to, they have the best food!

"Green" attire for the night.

Pat and his Green Beer

1.5 years, wow how time flies

Now, it's almost 11pm, which is wwwaaayyy past my bedtime, for real I'm not joking, I'm usually in bed NO later than 10pm, so I'm assuming tomorrow will be an extra rough Monday morning. Oh yea, something I else I wanted to share which is completely random, but so worth it.

My friend Kalene is a personal trainer and I'm always looking to their site for new recipes, foods, exercises, etc. She recently had mentioned THESE on her site so I checked them out and soon learned they were a must have. I ordered the variety pack with 12 flavors, all of them have been awesome. I truly believe they are the best protein bar on the market by far, made with all nature foods (aka ingredients that you can pronounce), packed with TONS of protein and fiber, these things are great post-work out go to's. Give them a try!

Okay, now it's really past my bed time, good night all!

Weekend Wraps

Happy February Friends! This is a great month for two reasons.
1. It's my birthday month 2. It's Valentine's Day!

I know many hate the holiday for love, but I am a romantic at heart and just love it. I have a great idea for Patty boy up my sleeve, more on that to come in a few weeks.

I simply had a wonderful, semi-relaxing weekend, even though I had to go in to work for just a bit I still made due with my time off.

Saturday night we celebrated the January/February birthdays in the family at my parent's house. My Mom made a mexican feast that was to die for and we celebrated my Dad, Grandma and My birthday! It was great and much needed family time was wonderful.

I got wonderful presents, and am so thankful, here are a few of my favs:)

TOM's black chambray wedges. In Love.

Urban Decay Naked 2, I've been wanting this stuff for months, it's hard to track down so getting it for a gift is perfect!

This tile is from my Aunt and Uncle- so cool! It's already on display on the fireplace.

After the birthday festivities, I ended the weekend with a hot yoga class, an amazing boxing class, a long walk with Buddy to enjoy the beautiful weather and a little bit of baking. I made some Pumpkin Protein Bars (I never get sick of pumpkin) for Pat and I to take with us to work this week. Great source of protein and will definitely curve hunger! They are great warmed up and topped with a little frozen nonfat whipped cream if you need an extra bit of sweetness.

Pumpkin Protein Bars

You can find the recipe HERE. I went for the second version, the lowfat/lowcarb option and they turned out great!

Best parents in the world!

Hope you all had a great weekend!
Now it's time to relax, watch the super bowl, and get ready for another llooonngg week.

Weekend Wraps

Another weekend has come and gone. Patty boy and I enjoyed a weekend in KC with great friends. Friday night was spent hanging with Nick, Ashley, and their new baby Kaylee. I guess she's not "new" anymore she's 5 months old already! She is seriously the happiest baby ever! She was such a trooper the whole time. Saturday we went out to Legends and spent the afternoon out there, the weather was seriously SO beautiful.

Pat and I then got ready for the wedding and headed into downtown KC for my friend Katie's wedding. Katie and I were roomies in Chi-O and she means the world to me. It was so great to be able to see her marry such a wonderful guy and see her so happy. I only wish her and Aaron the best and wish them the best of luck on their new venture in Denver. What a beautiful day for a wedding! KC is seriously absolutely beautiful this time of year. Pat and I were in awe driving through the city and seeing all of the gorgeous colors, fall is such a beautiful time.

After the wedding we headed back to Nick and Ashley's where the party continued
(thanks to K-state's awesome win:) we hung out with some of their friends until way to late of course. The next morning we packed up our things and headed to meet Sean, one of Pat's best friends. He also was in town for a wedding as well, so we picked  him up from his parents and headed out for breakfast.

The drive home was pretty sucky, as I was absolutely miserable. Allergies are just kicking my butt. I was supposed to start my "allergy shots" a few months ago but have been putting it off. Looks like I'm finally going to kick my butt in gear and start these dang things so I am not miserable the rest of my life.

Here's to another week. Looking forward to some fun weekend plans and we will be starting our next house project! Yippee! It's time for my bathroom..stay tuned to see the pics.

Weekend Wraps

Another weekend has come and gone.
This past weekend my family loaded up and headed north to visit my younger sister Paige at Pittsburg State where she goes to college. I can't believe she's a sophomore this year, and this is the first time I've been up to visit... better late than never though right?! Paige was back and forth between Pitt and KSU for a long time, and I thought I had her finally convinced to become a wildcat..but at the last minute she changed her mind and I couldn't believe it. Pitt? Why? But I'm over that now, and only wish her the best. Pitt has a great nursing program, one of the main reasons she chose the school. She has made great friends and loves it, so I couldn't be any happier for her. So neither of my sis's chose KSU, guess I will just have to get over that ha.
We bundled up on Saturday and tailgated, went to the football game, hungout, played games, ordered pizza, and had such a GREAT time. By the way, there was snow flurries at the game, yes snow. UGH. Totally not ready for this. Pitt won- woohoo! They were D2 National Champions last year, pretty cool!

I made Paige a care package filled with a bunch of her favorite things. I remember those days of being completely broke in college...

Pre-gaming it.

Weekend Wraps

Whew. What. A. Week. I'm too exhausted to even go into detail about how crazy my week has been, and this week will probably be about the same...vaca is in the near future though.

Patty boy and I did get a quick date night in though, which was nice, and that's about the only time I saw him this week, we then attempted to watch a movie, but guess what? Yep, I fell asleep within the first ten minutes. I suck.

We checked out the new BJ's Brewhouse...awwww delish! I worked for BJ's back when I lived down in Dallas, since then this place definitely places in my top 5. I'm so glad to see that they have put one in ta town, we're moving up in the world.

I also got to bust out my new kicks (shout out to my great friend Rae!!) I've been wanting a pair of these bad boys for some time now, and came home Friday and found them on my door step. So far I'm quite impressed, awesome design newton, awesome.

Weekend Wraps

Another weekend has come and gone. My allergies have completely taken over my life again. I am absolutely miserable. My Mom informed me today that Wichita was ranked the #1 city for the worst allergies. Hm, that explains a lot. Another reason to move? I recently went and saw a specialist and was told I'm allergic to uh pretty much everything. Ugh. I'm not kidding when I say I've sneezed at least 100 times today and have gone through a whole roll of toilet paper. I'm on lots of meds so I apologize if this post doesn't make the best since..or if I ramble way to much.

I guess you could say I started my weekend early with a girls night Thursday night. Me, Danielle, Tessa, and my friend Amber met at the best sushi place in Wichita- Kanai (I could be biased) and had such a great time! The wine was going down way to smooth, and we were sharing stories, and laughing our little hearts out. As the restaurant began to clear out we decided to move down the street to Amber's house and continue our night of laughs. We picked up a few more bottles of wine and I stayed out wayy to long. Sometimes those spur of the moment get togethers are the best ones though!

Friday was a bit rough for me as the wine definitely left me with a headache (man I'm getting too old) and I put in a 15 hour day. After work I headed out to Murfin Stables to help with a wedding. What a fun, non-traditional, beautiful wedding it was!

I have had a gift certificate for a massage for some time and finally put it to use on Saturday, definitely a great time to use it. It was amazing. Every time a get a massage, I think to myself - "man, why do I not get these more often!" Perfect start to my day. The hubs and I cooked up a storm that afternoon and that night we had my parents over for some yummy Potato Soup and Cinnamon Roll Cake. The soup is one of his Mom's traditions. It was our first time to make it and with some trial and error it finally turned out perfect. I made a double batch to also take to my "Fall Dinner Party" tomorrow night.

My little sister Paige was in town so Sunday morning the whole family went to Church and lunch and then we celebrated my little cousin, Brooklyn's 1st Birthday. She is so stinkin' cute. Seriously, how cute is she??

Weekend Wraps

How was everyone's weekend? Mine was great, busy but good. But that means I am one day closer to the day we leave for vaca! I spent the weekend helping with a beautiful wedding, had a meeting with a bride to discuss her wedding in September, and attended my friend Rae's bridal shower (wedding overload but I love it). After the bridal shower we got our nails done, I of course had to go with something bright and loud in honor of vacation- something that screams FUN:)

Here are a few pics of Rae's bridal shower brunch, thrown by two friends Katie and Stacy.
They did a great job!

I need motivation to get through these last two days of work...my mind is already laying on the beach with a cocktail in hand - no phone, no computer, no technology, can't wait.

RaeAnn and Chris will be getting married this Friday- 8/31/12 in the Dominican Republic. I and Patty boy along with 50 other of their closest friends/family are making the journey with them to celebrate their big day. (As I think to myself why didn't I do a destination wedding?!?!) Our one year anniversary so happens to also be less than a month away so we decided to get our bang for our buck and stay a few days extra as a cheers to making it one year:) I kid I kid- here's to MANY more years to come.

Rae and Chris left this morning..which makes me even more antsy to know that they have already arrived and the party has begun. Sigh..I. can. do. it. I sure hope I get some sort of a tan, this white girl hasn't seen the sun all summer. In the meantime I will spend the next two nights packing (which I have continued to put off), because I HATE PACKING! I just like to have options, and being confined to one suitcase does not give me a lot of that..ugh, dreading it. So I will completely, way-overpack, which I always do, but hey better than to not have enough right?!

Adios- I will be back after the trip! Have a safe and happy Labor Day!

Much Love~

Weekend Wraps

1. Our dog is too funny, we got home from breakfast and found him stuck under the table. 2. Perfect day at the pool, 3rd book of Hunger Games, my hubs, lots of tanning oil, and lots and lots of sunshine. 3. Buddy boy finally got a bath, he was completely covered in mud, so muddy that Pat had to carry him from outside directly to the bathtub, I wouldn't let him touch the ground. 4. Super pumped with my great find- Gianni Bini Dress that I have been wanting all summer, found it on sale from $108 to $37, woohoo! 5. Great bike ride Saturday afternoon. 6. This is Pat after the bike ride, it was only 105 outside and the boy acted like he was going to die. 7. Finally got to meet baby Kaylee, she is absolutely precious!
8. Sangria = Delish.

This was the first weekend in quite a while that the hubs and I had nothing planned, it was such a nice change of pace, sometimes weekends like this turn out to be the best weekends.

We started on Thursday by meeting baby Kaylee Marie, our friend's Nick and Ashley Topping's daughter. She was born June 21st, and I've been dying to meet her!! She is truly absolutely perfect, and we couldn't be happier for them! If only they lived closer!

Friday night I had a girls night with my mother in law Cindy and my Mom, as well as a few other girls, we had dinner, drinks, and saw Magic Mike, and I sure was not disappointed:) We had such a great time!

On Saturday the hubs and I slept in, and then headed to the pool. I think this is actually the first time I've been to a pool all summer, slightly pathetic. I then convinced him to go on a bike ride with me, in the scorching heat..it couldn't be too bad right?! Well we both survived, but I would not recommend doing this in the middle of the day with a 100+ temperatures. We did a few things around the house, then showered, got ready and headed to church. I left in tears, the message was that powerful. I felt like God wanted Pat and I to be there, it was amazing, and God is good! We then headed to El Dorado to celebrate Jordon's 18th birthday (Pat's -Dad's girlfriend- Valerie's- son). After that we felt like we needed to go sit on a patio somewhere and have a few drinks, so we went to Abuelos, and then it started pouring, so we ended up back inside. Either way Sangria is amazing and a perfect end to an awesome day.

Sunday we slept in again, awww amazing. I have been wanting to try Louie's coffee dive in Goddard, so we drove out there and was so disappointed to find it was closed, so after driving around Wichita trying to agree on a breakfast restaurant we ended up at The Beacon downtown, my first experience there. The food was great, but I'm a germ freak, and I'm pretty sure our waitress was on drugs, so I don't think I'll be back ha. Pat decided he needed some more v-necks...seriously?! Can the boy venture out to anything besides v-necks??? So we did some shopping, I would say it was successful. We also stopped in at the new Fresh Market- amazing, I could spend hours in there. However, next time I'll be sure to not bring patty boy there with me...because everything I wanted to get, he had reasons on why we did not need it. We did walk away with  few good purchases though, I love finding unique, healthy, and every once in awhile a few not so healthy foods:)

I don't think I have a free weekend now until the 3rd week in August, holy cow. Here we go- back to go- go- go, but that just means we are getting closer to August 29th= VACATION.

Much Love~

Weekend wraps

5.7.12
So you know how I mentioned I was so excited about my new lawn chair?! Well it definitely got broken in this weekend...that was my plan to lay out Saturday and Sunday and have a nice tan, this pasty white girl was in definite need of some color. So Saturday- 2 1/2 hours later = one RED girl with no tan. What was I thinking???? Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Which then leaves me to Sunday...laying on the couch all day because I could barely move my body, sit down, stand up, etc. Absolutely dreadful. Next weekend (if my burn is gone by then) I'll shoot for an hour tops, with sunscreen. I should have reminded myself that I haven't tanned since our honeymoon, LAST October.

Saturday night was Cort and David's Couple's Shower. One of her bridesmaids Emma hosted the shower and it was perfect. Emma and her husband Jordan outdid themselves! They smoked a ton of meat, we had a baked potato bar, and then seriously never ending sides as well as a candy bar, AND cupcakes oh my! Plus they might as well had a full bar- there was pretty much anything you could ask for. Patty boy decided he needed some moonshine (BAD IDEA). Let's just say I found him on the bathroom floor in the middle of the night. Sheesh...at least one of us is responsible ;) Needless to say, it was a great night and I think Cort and David really enjoyed it! I was a terrible maid of honor and got to the shower and realized my camera was dead...I know bad excuse, because I could have used my phone, but I was too sore from my burn to go find my phone and snap pics. Hope Mom got some!

Speaking of Mom- next Sunday is Mother's Day and I am completely stumped on what to get her, of course she says she wants nothing, and that is no help at all, because of course I'm going to get her something. I'm thinking about getting a huge pot and planting all different kinds of flowers in it, here are a few inspiration pics...we'll see how it turns out. Wish me luck (I'm not much of a gardner)!

Happy Monday!

Much Love~
