Skiing may not be my fortay...

Last Wednesday the hubs and I packed up our stuff and headed out to good ole' Colorado with seven of our good friends. To break up the long drive we stayed in Colorado Springs Wednesday night before heading on to Crested Butte the next day.

Love these girls!

Beautiful Colorado Springs

On Thursday, we headed on to Crested Butte. After what seemed like a never ending drive through the mountains and a major snow storm in Monarch, we finally made it to our little humble abode!

"PAT please drive slow...PAT please slow down..PAT I do not want to slide off the side of this mountain.."

For the next several days we enjoyed multiple fires, sitting around the table playing games, cooking, and enjoying the peace and quiet.

The boys even cooked us dinner on Valentine's Day, even doing all the clean up as well, what sweeties!

And then of course we hit the slopes. I had only been skiing one other time, back when I was probably 15 or so. So to say the least, skiing is not quite my thing. But I did give it a go, hyperventilated a bit on the lift, but didn't die, so all is good:)

Kendra and A-ron the adventurous ones

Nick G my saving grace

Nick and Casey, Casey was a first time skier, so I stayed with her most of the time and we just snow plowed our little hearts away:)

Time for a break- how about some spiked hot chocolate? Pretty dang good.

I went with the spiked apple cider

Patty boy sure impressed me on his board and all.

Don't fall, don't fall, don't fall.

Then of course we had to site see a bit in the city Crested Butte, such a cute, quaint little town with many fun shops/bars.

Here we partaked in some rum tasting

First time I've ever had a Bloody Mary, but these were accompanied with a full bloody mary bar of toppings, after trying, I was pleasantly surprised.

Back to Kansas we came, to be hit with MORE snow. Next time I vote we travel to a place MUCH warmer! Arizona, Florida, California, Hawaii, any takers???

A little late with Love..

I know Valentines's Day was 6 days ago, but I've been a little busy lately, so better late than never right?! So remember how much I said I love Valentine's Day? I guess it's not so much the actual day, but I just love surprises...giving and receiving them:) Last year, my friend Whitney blogged about what she had done for her husband for Valentine's Day, 14 Days of Surprises. I thought it was so clever, it caught my eye and I made a mental note that I wanted to do the same thing for Patty boy this year. Thanks to Whit's blog and pinterest, plus a few of my own twists, I think I came up with some pretty good "surprises." Of course, these are all some of my hubs favorite things, tried to tie as many as I could into the 14 days.

The last gift was a complete surprise to Pat, he had mentioned some time ago that he really wanted this watch..but this is something he'd never buy for himself. So me, being the sweet and thoughtful wife that I am ;), ordered it for him. I loved seeing his face on the last day, put such a smile on my face in return.

I would have to say, that I thoroughly enjoyed those 14 days, I hid each item in a different place every day to make it fun, so he was always surprised with where it would be sitting. It brought a smile to his face, started his day off good, which in return put a smile on my face. Sometimes it's the little things that mean the most. All of this (besides the watch) probably cost under $30. I found the heart templates online and then edited them in picmonkey, then printed them on white cardstock and cut out. Super simple. If you are looking for a clever, inexpensive Vday gift next year, keep it in mind!

Birthday Happenings

Well another birthday has come and gone, and what a good one this was! I spent my 27th birthday with my husband and closest friends, wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

I was overly excited for the weekend, especially to have two days off in in a row, much, much needed. Friday was a long day at work, but I was surprised with this little beauty which brought such a smile to my face. My good friend Rae was out of town for my b-day so she sent me this to work Friday afternoon. She knows me well, yummy!

Friday night after work Pat and I hit the gym then headed out to celebrate my fellow February birthday friend, Tessa. Of course it's always fun to see her and G. Saturday I woke up fairly early, hit the gym again, ran some errands, got a spray tan (this white girl was just way to pasty), and was surprised with this from my sweet husband.

Probably some of my favorite cupcakes ever. JRae's, you sure know how to make a girl happy.

We then had a progressive dinner planned with some of my best friends. Ivan and Ashley had generously offered for us to use their little yellow bus, so we all met up to head out for the evening. As I stepped on to the bus, one of my best friends, Keesha and her husband Garrett were sitting in it, I about died!! They live in Dallas and we don't get to see them to often, so what a surprise it was to see her on my birthday!  Nicely done Keesh, nicely done:)

We started at Oeno's for some apps, then headed to Yia Yia's for the main course, we rounded things up with Mike's Wine Dive for some delicious s'mores.

Keesha and I

My good friends Nick and Ashley also happened to be in town from KC, so glad they were able to join!

Us with my good friend Amber and her husband Chad. Another friend that I just don't get to see near enough!

Me and Tessa - the other birthday girl!

Another surprise from Patty boy- a Marc Jacobs purse. Boy I'm a lucky girl:)

Yep, 5 minutes into the night and I spilt red wine ALL over my jeans, nice...

Love this girl!
