Five Things

2.26.12
I recently saw this on a blog and thought it was a good idea. These are 5 Things that I'm really lovin' right now, enjoy:)

1. Bethenny Frankel's 5 New Skinnygirl Cockails
I'm not a huge drinker, but when I do have a drink, I'm always looking for something that is as low in calories as possible. One of my favorite drinks are margarita's..yuumm so delicious. But this is something I rarely order- they are loaded in sugar, carbs, pretty much everything my body hates. So when Bethenny released her first cocktail- the skinnygirl margarita, I was hooked! Now whenever we go a mexican restaurant and I feel like a margarita, I will order it skinny style. We recently went to a mexican restaurant and I tried to order one and the waiter looked at me like I was a freak, guess not every restaurant has branched out yet ha! She has recently released five new cocktails- 4 flavors of vodka and a ready to drink Pina Colada..fabulous! She also has a line of wine that I'm super excited to try as well!

2. My New Bookshelf
For sometime now I have been obsessing over a leaning bookshelf, I have no idea why, but once I get something in my head I can't quit thinking about it! I've always thought they were awesome, and have been begging Pat to let me order one, he always claimed we had no room for one. So for my birthday, guess what I got?!?! Yep, a leaning bookshelf, my Mom did good :) I also found the perfect spot for it. Now I have to go shopping to fill it with cute knick knacks! Hobby Lobby here I come!

3. My new SPRING suit
I have to wear suits to work, which sometimes can get kind of annoying, and I wish I could wear business casual, it would really give me so many more options! I was thorougly excited when Wichita got The Limited back in town, because I adore their business clothes!!! I had a giftcard for my birthday and got an excellent deal on this cute khaki suit. I'm so very much looking forward to wearing it with coral, yellow, teal, red, etc.
Anything bright and springy:)

4. Consignment Stores
I hate garage selling. It just creeps me out, something about digging through someone's used stuff in their garage. Anyway, I've never been a fan of buying used stuff until recently. I guess a lot of it has to do with pinterest which has inspired me to be more "crafty" and attempt more DIY projects. My sister's wedding is just around the corner and we have been doing a lot of DIY projects. I'm also planning her shower in April and am also busy crafting as well for that. So now I am OBSESSED with consignment stores...there are a few in Wichita that I can't get enough of.

Absolute Vintage Boutique
Urban Renewal
Mrs. O'Leary's

The anticipation of finding an amazing piece in the store and then imagining what you can do with it and make of it is so much fun! Plus you can bring in your own items to sell and make some money which doesn't hurt either right?!

5. The Vow
Ok, so there was a lot of hype about this movie, and it was good don't get me wrong, but let me tell you the book was 100 times better! There was a few things in the movie that really disappointed me, it kind of got away from what the whole point of the book was, which was to keep the vow, the vows that were said the day they got married. If you haven't read the book, I definitely recommend reading it, it makes you appreciate love and life. It is actuallly written by the husband and wife the movie was based on and it is truly inspirational to see what they went through, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Super Bowl Sunday

2.5.12
HAPPY SUPER BOWL SUNDAY!!
I'm not even sure what teams are playing tonight, but I do know that I'm excited for good food, and great family time:) What are your plans for the game tonight? Pat and I will be going to his Mom's house for the festivities. They are grilling chicken and salmon (my fav)!

It is also a BEAUTIFUL day! Even though I'm sore, I feel like I should take advantage of the nice weather and the sunlight (by the time I get home from work it's dark usually). Buddy has been packing on a few extra pounds this winter and I'm thinking he needs a little exercise as well. So I think I'll be taking him out for a run today!

I have a super exciting week ahead - and am looking forward to next Friday already! A day filled with yoga, mani's, lunch, and shopping with my b-day buddy Tessa:)

Happy Birthday Month

2.2.12
HELLO FEBRUARY!!! Not only is it the month of LOVE, but also my birthday month, woohoo! Although, I don't get too excited for my birthday these days as I'm just getting closer to that big 3-0, which I'm terrified of! Pat seems to think since my b-day and v-day are only a week a part he gets to combine them into one, and that is definitely not the case! I need to train him on this a little more:)

I do have to say I'm loving 2012 so far, it's off to a fabulous start and I have big plans for this year! I'm a dreamer, a dreamer with very large dreams to say the least! One of our largest goals is to finish our kitchen...(this has been an on-going process since before the wedding). Well, I have good news- the boys have finally set an installation date, 2.11.12, which means this is super exciting! We are completely remodeling our kitchen. Pat and his Dad have taken on, what seems to be the never ending project, of making concrete countertops. Originally, we thought this would be a little cheaper than granite, with having a similar look, I actually like the look of the concrete better than granite. But due to so many trial and errors, it's been a little more pricy than expected, and much more time consuming. They are finally finished though and have turned out great!! I'm thoroughly impressed with them, I'm amazed at the things my husband can do! Now comes the hard part, taking the concrete countertops out of the forms in the garage and bringing them inside and installing (keep in mind we have over 500 lbs. of concrete) so this will definitely take several people, as I'm sure I'll be helping too. (good thing I've been lifting weights:) This same day we plan to rip out the backsplash, sink, and range hood and install some slate tile that we got. I can't wait to see the final job, and can't believe it's almost here! Keep your fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly! I will post pictures of the before and after!

Also be sure to check out my updates on my fashion page:)
